
Bo Ai
Bo Ai is a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, engaged in the research of broadband mobile communication and railway dedicated mobile communication theory and technology. In recent years, he has chaired or participated in more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial projects such as the National Natural Science Outstanding Youth Fund, the National 863 Program, the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Major Science and Technology Project, the China Railway Corporation Major and Key Projects, with strong capacity in innovation, research and leadership. He has made innovative research achievements in three aspects: new phenomena and mechanisms of radio wave propagation in complex scenes of high-speed railways, channel measurement and modeling, and key technologies for reliable transmission. 16 standards/proposals that he made have been adopted by the International Telecommunication Union ITU, the International Standards Organization 3GPP, the IEEE Standards Organization and the European Science and Technology COST Organization. The variable bandwidth multimedia transmission equipment he developed has played a role in major events such as the 2008 Olympic Games; the detection methods and measurement criteria he proposed, and channel measurement library and model library result he achieved have been applied to multiple railway lines, bringing significant economic and social benefits. Prof. Ai is Vice Chairman of the IEEE VTS (Beijing branch) and Chairman of the IEEE BTS (Xi’an branch), organized many academic events in China and abroad, and has been invited to deliver reports in many events like IEEE Globecom, the flagship conference in the international communication field. He has been invited to be the chairmanship of many international conferences. He is IET Fellow of the British Engineering and Technology Society and an associate editor of IEEE journals, having won recognition and influence in the academia.
